Lake Ontario Submarine Cable Project — Supply and Shore-End Construction Underway
Crosslake Fibre has contracted Hexatronic Cables & Interconnect Systems AB to supply a high-fiber-count, double-armored 96-pair ribbon submarine cable for its pioneering route between Toronto and Buffalo. Maritech International LTD will construct the HDD shore ends—landing points in Toronto and Wilson, NY—using minimal-impact, trenchless methods ideal for urban proximity. The project covers an approximate 58 km unrepeatered span beneath Lake Ontario and was planned to enter service in Q3 2018.
