New Low-Latency Route Enters Commercial Service
Crosslake Fibre’s new submarine fibre-optic cable between Toronto and New York is now live—marking the first new link of its kind in almost 20 years. This state-of-the-art system utilizes a 192-fiber-strand cable routed under Lake Ontario, delivering both lit and dark fibre connectivity from Toronto carrier hotels to Equinix NY4 in Secaucus, NJ, with extensions to Buffalo. Designed for ultra-low latency, the system achieves sub-9 ms round-trip speeds, making it highly compelling for trading firms, data centres, content networks, and more. Funded by Tiger Infrastructure Partners, this infrastructure milestone reinforces Toronto’s strength in digital and financial technologies.
