Crosslake Fibre, in partnership with Equinix, has announced the CrossChannel Fibre system: a new and strategically located subsea cable connecting London (Equinix LD4) to Paris (PA7), with landings in Brighton and Veules-les-Roses. This project represents the first new subsea fibre route across the English Channel in almost 20 years, offering ultra-low latency, high capacity (96 fibre pairs), and a build length of around 520 km.
Slated for readiness in Q4 2021, the system will provide direct connectivity into Equinix’s London and Paris IBX data centres, tapping into their well-developed ecosystems that include cloud service providers, financial institutions, media & content networks, and other enterprises. It will provide service options including dark fibre and high-capacity bandwidth with performance advantages for latency-sensitive use cases.
