CrossChannel Fibre, part of Crosslake Fibre, has achieved a major milestone with the successful landing of its subsea cable at Veules-les-Roses, Normandy. This marks the first new UK-to-France subsea route across the English Channel in more than two decades.
The system stretches about 155 km, with portions overland in both the UK and France (Slough → Brighton → Veules-les-Roses → Paris region). The cable connects Equinix in Slough with Equinix and Interxion in the Paris area, providing high-capacity, low-latency connectivity. First customers are scheduled to begin service from 1 December 2021.
This project strengthens digital infrastructure between the UK and France and opens up improved performance for carriers, data-centres, cloud, and enterprise customers across both sides of the Channel.
